Great audio tools can help the full impact of a good song come through - if you use them sensitively in the service of a heartfelt performance.

Mixing down to analog tape is not appropriate for every project. But for some things it's perfect. Tape can really help bring some analog flavor to an all-digital production that was done on a laptop or uses a lot of virtual instruments. Sometimes it's also really nice glue for acoustic music with a vintage vibe. It can be perfect for a rock and roll production. Traditional effects like a tape slapback echo really come to life when done with real tape.
